Our Services

At Mid-Modern Eyecare, we believe in providing personalized, high-quality care without the limitations dictated by vision plans. That’s why we don’t contract directly with vision insurance — to ensure patient care decisions are made based on individual needs, not insurance restrictions. We help patients claim their vision benefits through discounts or reimbursement checks, but by not contracting with vision insurances, we can keep the base prices of our glasses lower than at other offices. We also work with most medical plans to keep treatment accessible and affordable.

Dry Eye Treatments

"Dry eye" refers to any number of conditions that contribute to the eyes being red, irritated, watery, gritty, blurry, or matted. Patients with dry eye can have all, many, or only one of these symptoms. Even if you think you've tried everything to treat your dry eye, Dr. Andrus may surprise you with informative videos and photos of your eyes. He will also create a detailed treatment plan individualized for your specific needs. We also upload patient education videos on our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@Mid-ModernEyecare

Treatments We Offer:

  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): $375/treatment 

    • ​The BEST prevention against worsening dry eye symptoms! Initial 4-5 treatments done within 2-3 months (roughly one treatment every two weeks). Combined with Low-Level Light Therapy.

  • Thermal Gland Expression: $150/treatment (standard), $350/treatment (Radio Frequency), $2000/treatment (TearCare)

    •  ​Clears blockages in meibomian glands and promotes oil secretion. Repeat treatment every 6-12 months as needed.

  • Specialty Scleral Contact Lenses: $1200 (single vision), $1500 (bifocal)

    • Fitting process done over 2-3 visits (included in the price of contacts). Works with any prescription and lasts 1-2 years. ​

  • Eyelid Cleanse: $150 (treatment), $22 (hypo spray)

    • ZEST treatment cleans bacteria, oil, and debris from the eyelid area using an okra-based scrub. Paired with hypochloric acid spray for at-home use. Repeat as needed.

  • Stem Cell Grafts: $2100/graft (billable to medical insurance) 

    • Stimulates corneal healing to restore sensitivity in the eye. Graft is placed on eye with a bandage and removed after 2-4 days. Only one eye is done at a time. These are billable to medical insurance, though some responsibility may remain if you have a deductible or copays. ​

  • Meibomian Gland Probing: $550/lower eyelid, $650/upper eyelid

    • Opens the meibomian oil glands when a thin layer of skin has built up or they are otherwise blocked. Repeat every 6-24 months, depending on the severity of your condition. ​

  • Prescription Eyedrops:

    • There are a variety of different eyedrops that can help with dry eye symptoms, many of which are covered by prescription drug plans. Prescribed as needed depending on your condition.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

At Mid-Modern Eyecare, we pride ourselves on giving clear, detailed, and thorough eye exams. Dr. Andrus runs a variety of tests, most of which are not included in a regular appointment at other offices, to check more than just distance and reading vision. We check for depth perception, eye coordination, and overall health to catch signs of disease as early as possible. 

Pediatric Eye Exams

Vision problems in children often go unnoticed because they don't know what they can't see. Dr. Andrus recommends a first dilated eye exam around nine months (for healthy, full-term babies), with follow-ups and future exams based on individual circumstances. Pediatric eye exams are different from those run on teens and adults, using specialized tools to assess eye alignment, health, and how they work together. 

Medical Eye Exams

Medical eye care covers the diagnosis, management, and treatment of serious eye conditions. Diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma (often called "the silent thief of sight"), and cataracts can all be diagnosed and treated. Dr. Andrus has equipment like Rabin cone testing, visual field tests, and laser imaging to help catch issues as early as possible.

We make choosing new glasses easy and fun with a wide selection of frames in a variety of price points, colors, and shapes. From designer frames like DB4K and Scott Harris to small business and family-owned companies like Toivo and Vernon Gantry, you're sure to find something you love! We can even make some glasses the same day!
